Rooted in Purpose.
Growing With Love.
Rosewood Montessori was founded with a clear and passionate purpose: to give every child in Elesekan, Lagos access to the kind of intentional, child-centered early education that shapes confident, creative, and compassionate human beings.
A School Born From a Mother's Vision
Rosewood Montessori began with a simple but profound question: where could children in Rose Garden Estate, Elesekan experience the kind of early education that nurtures their whole being?
Our founder, a trained Montessori educator and passionate advocate for early childhood development, answered that question by building Rosewood from the ground up — a school where the environment itself teaches, where children are respected as capable individuals, and where families become lifelong partners in learning.
Today, Rosewood Montessori is more than a school. It is a community of curious minds, dedicated educators, and loving families — all united by a shared belief in the potential of every child.
Our Montessori Approach
The Montessori method, developed by Dr. Maria Montessori over a century ago, remains the world's most proven approach to early childhood education. Here's how we bring it to life.
The Prepared Environment
Our classrooms are thoughtfully arranged to invite independent exploration. Child-sized furniture, accessible materials, and calm aesthetics support concentration and purposeful work.
The Directress (Teacher)
Our educators are trained observers and guides — not lecturers. They provide individual lessons, introduce new materials, and allow children to discover at their own pace.
Freedom with Limits
Children choose their own work within clear boundaries. This cultivates self-regulation, decision-making, and a genuine sense of ownership over their learning journey.
The Three-Period Lesson
Our educators use the three-period lesson — naming, recognition, recall — to introduce concepts in a gentle, developmentally appropriate sequence.
Uninterrupted Work Cycles
A three-hour uninterrupted work period allows children to reach deep concentration — the state Maria Montessori called "normalization" — where real learning happens.
Individualized Pacing
No child is rushed or held back. Each learner progresses according to their individual developmental readiness, with personalized lessons from their teacher.
A Day at Rosewood
A typical day at Rosewood is structured yet deeply responsive to each child's needs. Morning work cycles flow into outdoor play, group gatherings, meals, and rest — all woven together with intention and warmth.
Our Core Values
Respect for the child as a capable, whole person
Safety, warmth, and emotional security as foundations
Individualized attention — every child is seen
Partnership with families as co-educators
A joyful, loving, and encouraging atmosphere
